Hi all! I hope you are all jumping into fall with both feet and ready for a festive holiday season :)

I know that Halloween is still a few weeks away, but I have already created and sold out of this years banner kit. I actually designed and created it especially for the lovely gals of the local and fabulous CVP (see sidebar). It was so very lovely and a whopping 10' long--a fringy and sparkly little number. This kit included a bonus mini-banner kit. Thanks to the awesome CVP girls who always keep me happily busy!! Here are a few snippets of it, a bit of a teaser I know...

I am more on the ball this year than ever before, and I have to say it feels good! So, without further adieu, I am super excited to show you my latest project... It is a darling, double sided vintage inspired tag banner kit. Perfect for hanging in a window, that way you will be able to enjoy it from either side! I will be listing a total of six kits. I wanted to share my latest creation: a vintage inspired Spring Banner, this kit is created especially for Stephanie and the gals of the Central Valley Play Group. Therefore not available for purchase this time, sorry. However, this brings me to my next point, I have been meaning to thank each of you who purchased a Valentine Banner kit. I admit, I haven't been too creative lately--project wise. At the end of December I announced my photography business and have been knee deep in new adventures with that.

Be still my heart as Bella loves to do crafts, I diligently gathered a few things from my scrappy goodness and we created this Valentine inspired beauty. Many of you know I have a thing for banner's, always have!! Seems I have rubbed off on her, as it is always the one thing she requests at "craft time." I just knew with all our goodies we could could come up with something spectacular...

I know I bailed on the Christmas banner kit, and believe me I plan to get started early on that for 2008, especially since I already have all the goodies! To make-up for my oversight I put together a couple of kits to create this same banner. Ooohhh-weeeee it is adorable!! The L.O.V.E letters will be pink glitter, and the ribbons and fibers will be very similar with a couple of equally pleasing substitutions, almost if not completely unnoticeable. I will provide you with directions and photos for assembling. This banner is a paper project kit, including 8 pieces of pre-cut patterned papers, 8 extra large shipping tags, large glitter letters spelling L.O.V.E, 2 glitter hearts, 2 lace paper hearts, various paper flowers in pink, red and white, rhinestones for flower centers, assorted ribbon & fibers, and coordinating string for hanging... sorry no fabric this time :)

*Banner is approx 40" in length, with each embellished tag measuring approx. 6.5" x 3.5".

My Halloween banner kit is now sold out, I am sorry to disappoint. I received a few e-mails and could only fulfill so many. I would like to try something new, please bear with me. If you are interested in future projects including holiday banners, keep reading. I will be creating a Christmas banner of similar sorts, stay tuned for sneak peaks. It will be made mostly of fabric, fun ribbons..... think Vintage-y. It is sure to delight, loaded with glitter galore and festive embellishments!

Yep, that's right, I am busy working on a fun Halloween banner. I have jam packed this one with fun goodies, festive ribbons and shiny letters. For those that asked, my goal is to have the banner kits ready to ship in about week. I am working hard to get them done earlier if possible, if you are like me not only do I love fun holiday decor, but I love to display it asap :)

Remember that backyard Oasis I spoke about back in *eeeek* March, well it has certainly been a work in progress. *insert excuse here* Of course, in between a gazillion other life and household happenings we are managing to get it completed all of 4 months later. The stone wall is about complete, here are a few photos from this past weekend. Thankfully my Mom grabbed the camera, which reminds me.... a huge thank you to my Mom, Dad, brother Tyler and his sweet girlfriend Linda. They never fail to pull through for us, even when it means working in 90+ degree weather to help us get this finished. As you can see, even Bella helped when she could.

Disclaimer: I know that flip flops aren't exactly "working" shoes, but my footie is still recovering from surgery back in April and extremely sensitive to closed toed shoes yet. That being said, please do not try this type of work with out proper protective gear and attire ;)

Loads of work yes, but I have to say that I have truly enjoyed just about everyday this past week working right along side hubs, knee deep in mortar. We are now official "do-it-yourselfers." I tell you what, it is hard work, but the time and energy (and sweat) is well worth the accomplishment. I cannot wait to unveil the results. The sod will go in on Saturday morning, and then we will have all next week to get the rest all dialed in. Can you tell I am really looking forward to soaking up the fruits of our labor. I hate to say it, but somehow an event like Bella's 2nd birthday bash (weekend after this) is usually what it will take for us to switch our game into high gear. It's true, we work best under pressure :)

So, just in case you wondered where I'd been or better yet, what I've been up to; well here you have it. Been busy busting my tush outdoors.

Anyone, anyone... please tell me you are out there??? and don't tell me this is what they call ADD?? lol ;)

4th of July Banner KIT

Couple things... The banner is up in my etsy shop, and I decided to stick to a nice round number I am listing them at $45.00 and totally worth it, you'll see!! Check out the offer, good today and tomorrow only....

In the meantime, I thought you might be waiting for a couple photos of my completed banner (see below). It really is lovely and turned out better than I expected! I will fit right in with the holiday spirit on the 4th, won't you join me? :)

This fun little lovely has been an idea in the making for quite some time, I am excited to reveal the *almost* end product! I hope you enjoy it also! I know the photo was a bit more than just a peekie, but yes I have designed a festive 4th of July Banner. Seems these pennant style banner are all the rage this season, and since I am quite fond of them myself and have decided to get extra *happy* this 4th.

Some of you know that occasionally I teach classes at my LSS Youngplay Memories. Also the place where the fabulous Kristina Contes will be appearing for some scrappy teaching the weekend after next....soooo excited! Ok, so back to the banner.... I had initially planned to do a class creating this banner, but I ended up using fabric instead of PP (patterned paper). Although no sewing is required, you could surely add more stitches if desired. The kit will come complete with everything you see in the main photo. Please note that as a final touch, I will be stitching around the perimeter of each triangle piece with an eye popping white thread. I have not completed mine yet, (hopefully tomorrow) and I will be posting more photos when I have mine finished. It's SUPER cute, and I am sure you too will love it to pieces!

I have only a small number of kits, and I will be posting a few for sale in my etsy shop tomorrow afternoon at around 4pm PST. Believe me when I say they are a steal at $47.50 a kit. You would not believe the amount of work I have dedicated to make certain that this lovely project is just perfect. A full color set of directions with photos will be included with each kit purchase.

RAK involved challenge fun stuff...

I've been thinking, I figure that I average about 10 days (and maybe more) between postings. What a bad blogger I have been. Blogging will usually get the shaft, as there is always something else taking precedence. But.... man oh man, I do miss you gals!! :)

No complaints here, I have been scrapping almost everyday since Friday. Thanks KP!! I finally had a moment to pick up a kit, or two and have some fun. Only after I froze in a moment of overwhelming kit compulsion. Here I was thinking that I hadn't opened a kit in forever, truth be told it was just since January. Since splurging back in February, I thought it was about time I unpack some goodies. Each of the fabulous add-on's were a must have that month. Needless to say, I immersed myself in a colorful frenzy this past weekend and opened up both March's Rock Star and February's Funky Town.

February has to be my favorite month so far, I am so in love with all the colors!

Back to my overwhelming-ness, I had no idea where to begin. Oddly uncharacteristic of me, but true this time. I pay close attention to the message boards and often read "kit addiction confessions," stories of unopened kits piling up, etc., etc., etc... You get the picture.

Without fail, each month I really look forward to the DT gallery at Poppy Ink. So that's where I started my creative process this time. There is some ultra fabulous talent out there, I especially love the way Heather embellishes. Of course, that got me thinking. I never quite bring myself to actually "use" my embellies, and I mean really "use" them up. Why is it that we have a tendency to want to hoard these pretty little lovelies? After all they were made to be seen right?

The following LO's I shamefully scraplifted almost to a "T" This first one is from Heather's March gallery.

this one too...Can you say copy cat... this one here is a lift of the lovely Amber Skolinick. It's a fact, I worry about EVERYTHING. I loved everything about this and the message fit perfectly, thanks Amber!!

Here's my challenge:

Right now, quit saving and hoarding. Unleash your inner creative genius. If you have any unopened kits, pick one and by golly use and abuse your stuff. If you get stuck, try scraplifting from the galleries. Embellish to you hearts content, and then some, and then some more. Upload your work somewhere and post a link to it here in the comments section. On Tuesday afternoon I will randomly draw a name for the fabulous RAK anxiously awaiting a new home! RAK is open to all, not just those with un-opened kits and hoarders alike, anyone can participate!! Excited to see what you bring, have some fun and remember embellish it up!!

So now you know, I had the best time scraplifting a few of the gallery LO's, even just taking bits and pieces.... it was just the jump start I needed to get going again. Thanks PI, you rock!

**RAK is a darling little shirt (also PI inspired). It is a lime green with silver and grey owlies, sz Med. I bought myself one and thought what a great little RAK it would make. Also, I have done some serious spring organizing/cleaning around here, you can be sure that I will include a few fun scrappy items too! Think Heidi Swapp, new KI stamps, ribbon, laces, flowers and even some fabric snippets!

To all my dear friends, here's wishing that your Mother's Day was overflowing with love and joy!

To my Mother, the best Mother a girl could ask for. Thank you for loving me, teaching me to love myself and others and showing me the ways of life. You are truly the reason behind who I am today, I love you more than words!

First was Church, then came brunch, and then it was back home where I indulged in a long overdue nap. With my second wind, I opted for some scrappy fun. I spent the second half of Mother's Day being creative and crafty. Had a chance to break open my Jenni Bowlin Kit... especially love the combo of colors this month.

Just Having Fun!

Ah yes, I have been busy....busy in general, some things never change. But there is always time for fun, after all it is rule #1. So, all three of us went out and about to work on completing assignment #3, for my photography class. Here is proof...

So tell me, (aside from the cutie model) don't you just love my fabulous metal chair? Perfect "prop" for photography wouldn't you agree?

Last week my dear friend Corie called me while out running her errands, she had just left her neighborhood and spotted a pile of what looked to be items that a neighbor would be getting rid of. She told me that on her way back home, if he was still out working/cleaning his garage she would ask, that if he was throwing it away, could she have it. She explained to me that it had my name written all over it, she knew with my "craftiness" that I'd be able to give it a new life, paint it pretty, etc..

Much to my delight, she was able to snag this old chair for me, and warned that it was in need of TLC. Later that day I stopped by her house to pick it up, and I was beyond thrilled at just how "me" it truly was. I LOVED it at first sight. It is the most beautifully distressed piece of turquoise metal on earth. Gift's like this are one in a million, thanks Corie! I promise to give it all the TLC in the world, but I think I'll leave it just the way it is.

Peeps and Cherry Blossoms

Hola Peeps!

So tell me, how was your Easter holiday? Ours was just super! First things first, we attended an awesome service at church yesterday, where we of course celebrated the Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He is Risen indeed! We then spent the afternoon hunting eggs, eating well and visiting with family at Kevin's Dad's house. They live in Jamestown, CA the most adorable little foothill town. A very happy day!

Ok, so speaking of Peeps, I just can't resist the cuteness about them. You might already know that they make Peep everything these days, (stuffed toys, etc.) and that makes me happy! Especially since I am not a huge fan of their sugary, marshmellowy flavor and squishy spongy texture. Can you say choc-o-holic... ah, yes Miss Bella enjoyed every last morsel of chocolate that we weren't able to "save for later" and only so she wouldn't make herself ill eating every piece in the basket. That's my girl. Yesterday was candid really, I couldn't help but marvel at the way it seemed Bella knew exactly what to do. She could have fooled anyone that this was her first "real" Easter, crazy how kids just know these things isn't it? She hunted eggs like a pro, very efficient nonetheless. And the way she tiptoed around the yard filling up her basket was just altogether very sweet. Wouldn't you agree that the innocence of a child can make any holiday that much lovelier.

I had fun crafting the most darling little Spring project on Saturday. Just in time for the Easter holiday. The "how-to" was featured in the April issue of Better Homes and Gardens. I picked up the flowers at Michael's, they were on sale for a buck. This happy little spring pick-me-up is also perfect as a festive centerpiece for any occasion.

Oh Happy Day!!!

Hello to you and Happy Friday!!!

I am headed to a little event in Downtown Tracy called "First Friday." It will fall on the first Friday of each month during Spring-Summer. Downtown merchants stay open a bit later, while live music sets the mood. Think something similar to that of a farmers market set-up. How I got involved... So there is a darling little fashion parlor (think all things hip, chic and sparkly) called Blush. After browsing around her shop one day many months ago, Stacey (the owner) and I were chatting about my handbags....the rest is history. She is a super sweet gal and especially savvy business owner. "First Friday" is something new to Tracy all together, and I am thrilled to say that she invited me to join her. In a nut shell, I show up with all my goods, set up a pretty little table and sell my handbags to my hearts content. She offered a pretty sweet deal not to be passed up!

Here is my latest bag, just finished it last night....

On another note, I know I've been talking about this Shabby Chic altered book I am working on. It's a project I will be teaching at Youngplay on June 1st. It's only a thought right now, but I was going to put maybe 2-3 additional kits together for my etsy shop. No directions, just a pretty little coordinating papercrafting style kit. Included would be the old book, papers, laces/ribbons, fabric trims, flowers, etc. Anyhoo, here is a peekie for you.

Well, I am off to Blush, but I have to admit I am a little frazzled. I am still hobbling around while my bum foot heals. Go ahead and say it, you think I'm nuts!....and I'd have to agree with you today. Really though, KP is staying home with Bella. It was my parents who, so graciously volunteered to set up and help me out tonight. That's right, volunteered, they are just too good to me. Mom & Dad....you guys rock! (and "rock" is a good thing, means you are completely "awesome") And I love you for always wanting the best for me, even today

Speaking of recovering, I am not allowed to remove the bandage until my follow-up appointment next week. I guess I didn't take into account Easter is this coming weekend, bummer....I guess that means no following Bella around with my cam at the Easter egg hunt, I'll have to have to nominate KP to be in charge of that. Also, no pretty shoes for me on Sunday, only this pretty little orthopedic shoe I have to wear!

Polka Dots, Projects and Purses

Hello my sweet lovable friends and family!! This is a quickie post this evening. In the meantime I am actively searching for the time to get back to blogging more often. I really miss it, believe me. It always seems that have so much to say and so little time....anyone else with me here? I haven't even had much time on the computer these days in general, so I apologize in advance to those of you who have blogs that I have been neglecting. Although, back to the computer I shall be for the next 12 weeks. Today was my first day of class with the fabulous Wendy Schulz, and so far so good. A very excited, eager student I am to learn all I can from her wealth of knowledge about the art of photography.

I have been busy working on some new fabulous purses. I even have a third size to the mix. More about all the juicy details next time. But, I will give you just a hint of info....there is good news for you gals, I have lowered my prices especially for etsy. Give me a couple weeks and I should have it all dialed in over there. I have also been working on some class projects for my LSS YoungPlay Memories. Did I mention it is the largest (independently owned) scrapbook store in the world? It's just too fabulous for words, a must visit if you are ever in the Central Valley. Anyhow, these classes I have been working on have given me a great idea. I am thinking of putting together some project kits to sell in my etsy shop. (Like I don't have enough irons in the fire already) I know call me nuts, I deserve it...lol! Sadly, I haven't scrapped much lately just for myself, I was really hoping to get some "me" time in this coming weekend? Let's say, oh after the egg hunt on Saturday and in between family dinner's, etc... on second thought, maybe this weekend wont work after all? Well, soon I hope!

I just have to share with you all the most adorable little dress my aunt Sally sent this past weekend. She lives in Southern Ca. and just loves my sweet little Bella more than words can say, and that makes my heart completely happy. I know that she thinks of us often and never fails to keep all of us in her prayers. She is a loyal reader of my blog and I love that she is so involved in our lives. She is a blessing to our family and I just want the world to know how much I love and treasure her. I look forward to seeing Bella all dolled up in this precious dress, thank you so very much!

And finally, I wanted to let you all know that I am having surgery on my right foot tomorrow morning, wish me luck. Not to worry though, it's minor...at least I hope so! Thankfully KP is taking the day off to be able to baby me if needed, and believe me I am looking forward to that. I have a cyst on the tendon just above my big toe, ewww. Happy to see it go, I'll keep you all posted.

Angler in Heaven

We had a fun-filled and productive weekend, besides stocking up on more landscaping whatnot's, which I am dying to share with you. I wanted to take pictures today, but as it turns out the weather woman was right, and it rained all afternoon. Although I refused to comply completely and managed to stay in flip flops all day. Can you tell I have a serious case of Spring fever? Anyone else feeling it as well?

Back to the events of the weekend, so we took a break on Saturday afternoon and headed to the Delta in Stockton to watch the weigh in at Weber Point for the "Duel in the Delta" tournament sponsored by the Bassmaster Elite Series. KP is an avid angler himself and was in true heaven this weekend. It was an altogether good time, we watched about 50 pro angler's and 50 co-angler's (amateur angler's from all over the US, many from local town's right here in the valley) weigh in one at a time. They narrowed down the top 50 to the 12 elite. Those 12 took on the waters of the San Joaquin Delta on Sunday for the final day, where California native and fan favorite Aaron Martens took first including a pocket full of change over $100,000.

After the weigh in we had a chance to mingle and shake hands with some of Bass fishing's top anglers. We met so many awesome anglers and some of our favorites included Skeet Reese, Aaron Martens, Kevin VanDam, rookie Derek Remitz, and longtime pro Denny Brauer.

Bassmaster Rookie Derek Remitz, it was easy to see he wasn't quite used to all the hype of being a pro angler, not just yet anyway. He ended up placing 2nd in the three day event, way to go Derek!

Tournament first place went to California native and fan favorite Aaron Martens.

Also a fan favorite and California native, Skeet Reese.
At the end of day 3 the 12 elite anglers gathered on stage for photos. I caught this shot as they were leaving to prepare for day 4, the final day. Can't wait for next year, KP has plenty of time to prepare himself to participate as a co-angler, especially since he rocks the Delta waters. I have encouraged him to apply, I mean how awesome would it be to see him live a dream? I would honestly love nothing more that to see him on that stage next year. If anyone deserves a shot at this it's him, KP=Good Man.

Life is Good...

A wise friend once told me "Life will get back to good, it always does." And she was right. Not that life was really bad, on a scale from 1-10 I was feeling at about a 5.5. I'll be honest, the ups and downs of life can sometimes really get the best of you. I desire so much to thank each of you individually for your wisdom, support, kind words, prayers and most of all your friendship, you all are just too much sometimes. Too much in the most awesome way. Really, it boggles my mind sometimes what unique and sincere friendships a girl can have with so many miles in between. In reality I have never been face to face with many of you amazingly incredible women, and the fact that our friendships can grow and thrive is just an incredible thing to me.

On the home front we are doing very well. It's a process I tell you, and it sounds like some of you know just what I mean when I say this. Like with anything, I have my good days and my bad days, however mostly though I am copacetic with my emotions. You can imagine that some days it's easier and other days I search tirelessly to find that clear and present answer. All the while, getting there slowly.

You want to hear something really just too cool for words? I wish so much to do this gesture justice, so please bear with me... KP and I belong to a small group through church, it's a "Young Marrieds" group that we adore dearly. Our good friends Bret and Kim from the group dropped by yesterday evening to bring "a little something" for us. Well, I admit to having myself a long overdue break down, I was so moved by this "little something." It was the most delicate (I had to measure it as precise details are a must for this compassionate gesture). This precious 16"x19" blanket was hand knitted by Bret's mother. The most beautiful decorative pattern all in a soft white yarn. I am not sure if just a coincidence, but I couldn't help but relate the white yarn to that of the purity and innocence of an unborn child. Come to find out, she knits these small beauties for a local hospital, they are given to the families of still born and miscarried babies. It was wrapped up so sweetly and adorned with a tag that read so simply, so poignant "In Remembrance of Baby Paddack." It was one of the most divine things that ever touched my heart.

On another note, we have been busy enjoying the most beautiful spring like weather here in the valley. We have been spending any extra time we have in what will soon be our very own backyard oasis. We have lived in our home for three years this month and we are finally completing our backyard work in progress. We have had a wonderful patio for about a year now, but without grass and all the dazzling extras it was just no fun. Needless to say I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute shopping for all the necessities, of course. String lights, (you know the kind you see adorning lavish wedding tents). I have always loved the look of simple small light bulbs hanging from a draped wire and I am determined to incorporate that into our yard. New cushions for our patio furniture, lantern style landscape lighting.

Ummm, did I mention hubs is an electrician, in case I didn't... three cheers for my awesome hubby who is the most hardworking and completely handy man I know, lucky me!
Bella is having a ball helping Daddy with the "pinklers." She has never been so filthy in her 19 months as she has the past week, but oh what fun she is having. For a moment I cringe at the dirt and grime, all in the same moment my heart is filled with happiness while I watch her at play without a care in the world. Life is too short (I think to myself) she will spend plenty of time in her life "clean and proper." Dig in Missy, dig in!

So, although the leftovers around her face tell another story, note be made that we discovered real quick that she's not too crazy about the taste of mud pies. Guess I don't blame her!

Babies are Miracles

I have received a few messages with well wishes and wonderings of where I have been. I have always said that I truly appreciate those of you who look out for me and who miss me when I am gone for too long. Thank you for your concerns. I admit I have been avoiding my blog and just how I was to say the following to all of you. So here goes.

A little over a week ago on the 21st I went in for my 10 week pre-natal appt. to find out that one of two things may be going on with my pregnancy. One, that I may not be as far along as we initially thought. Or, the other being that I may not be carrying a viable fetus that at some point stopped growing, resulting in a miscarriage. The news was shocking and in an instant fear and anxiety consumed me. I would take an hcg (hormone) test that day and follow up with a second test on Friday morning. A comparison of the two tests would uncover the truth. In the meantime, all we could do was sit and wait. The evening before this appt. Kevin and I attended a pre-natal class (one which we had taken before while pg with Bella) in that class were several women pregnant with their 2nd and some their 3rd, it is mandatory with Kaiser that you take this series of classes with every pregnancy. Ironically, one of the first questions they ask you in this class is what are your concerns if any. Most everyone answered the same, fear of miscarriage. I never thought in a million years that would become our reality. Friday came and after a long drawn out day of anxiously waiting for the Dr. to call, we accepted a late phone call with the sad news, my levels had gone down and I had miscarried.

In between all of this I was attempting to pack for our trip to Hawaii, scheduled for the next morning. All along I was a wreck, to go or not to go? It was awful, I had been left wondering since Wed. morning, was I pregnant or did I lose my baby? Needless to say, there was very little sleep over those 3 days for me. I cried myself to sleep that night. I awoke the next morning with a feeling of emptiness. However, in an attempt to be strong for Bella, as she can’t stand to see Mommy upset. I held tightly to my faith and reminded myself that God has a reason for everything he does….although I admit, sometimes it’s hard not to ask why?

In the meantime we decided to go ahead with our plans to Hawaii, almost afraid that if I didn’t go I would wind up spending everyday after that curled up in a ball under my covers. Along with the support of my husband, daughter as well as my parents we left for Hawaii as planned. As it turns out, we had a wonderful time and the support of my loving family was the best thing a girl could ever ask for at a time like this.

Slowly but surely I am dealing, and ultimately I know all will be well again soon. I am completely convinced that these bumps in the road of life serve to make us stronger and wiser individuals. It doesn’t mean I don’t cry myself to sleep or that I don’t get angry and that I don’t ask why? After all, I am human.

I am more thankful than words can say for the life of my precious daughter. She is a true blessing never to be taken for granted. When I hear the words “Babies are Miracles” it will forever have a far greater meaning in my book. I firmly believe that babies are a gift from heaven and an amazing work of a gracious and loving God. On behalf of myself, and Kevin we thank you for your heartfelt prayers and support.

I'm Spilling the Beans...

Ok, so here it is.....my big news....I am pregnant and we are absolutely thrilled! The details: I am 9 weeks along and due on September 21, 2007. Thanks to those who have been on the lookout, I have been feeling just a wee bit tired and some nausea too. But all in all, feeling happy and getting excited! Needless to say, I haven't had much energy lately for all my usual duties...and I am already starting to worry about the incidentals such as a more suitable vehicle...my current car will fit two car seats, would be a tight fit I'm sure, but it will not hold for instance a double stroller and add, lets say a second diaper bag to the mix and I am looking at some cramped quarters, eeek....I am panicking too early aren't I? I know that most of you are across the states, at the risk of sounding crazy, you just never know...I am looking to sell my car. I will post more details and some photos if there is interest, so in the meantime let me know...

Don't you just love fun surprise packages and scrappy mail?? Well it has been quite a happy little mail week in the Paddack home. Today I received the most awesome swap package from Jennifer Henson, filled with an array of colorful flowers, ribbons and buttons and these never seen before super cool library style pocket thingy's...and the ribbons were absolutely perfect, none of which I already had in my stash--really love that!

I also received my first issue of Cottage Living Magazine compliments of Kimber-Leigh and a super fun RAK giveaway she was holding back in December... I am hooked and cannot wait for the next issue. Besides all the fabulous home decor ideas; which is just my style by the way, I couldn't help but wow at the most mouthwatering recipe for a Warm Artichoke and Spinach Dip... mmmm! Promise to make and share the results very soon.

It's no secret, so I just have to say that I have the best friends in the whole world! So incredibly thoughtful and generous!!! Thank you so much to Jenny for the festive Valentine inspired goodies...The most adorable polka-dot flower pot, fabulous rubber stamps from Impress rubber stamps, sparkly pens, frilly trims, cookies and even some fun stuff for Bella (just to name a few)!

A big warm thank you to Susannah for the happy little package she sent filled with beautiful fabric and pom-pom trim, and a stamped image of two sweet little "in love" robots (not pictured...oops!) I Love it all!!!

Both packages of happy were just the pick me up I needed, your generosity and thoughtfulness does not go unoticed, you guys are the best friends a girl could ask for, love ya!

Ooohweee I am feeling awfully chatty tonight!

After my last post, I went to bed running through the days events like I always do, and I had to laugh at myself. You see, to those of your who read my blog, I try to give you a birds eye view of my latest adventure, newest hobby, my life in a nut shell. I know I am a sucker for my sweet Bella Gracey, thank you so much always dropping in and for always indulging me in the wonderful, heartfelt, happy comments you leave. I truly appreciate your loyalty! I have met some on the most marvelous women through my love and joy of scrapbooking, and through the art of blogging, and I want to say with all my heart, you all Rock big in my book!

So back to why I was laughing. If any of you out there can relate, let me know...I was going through the 200 some odd photos I had taken at UOP two days ago. Like most, I handpicked my 3 favorite to showcase. The three where Bella was most composed, "smiling pretty," and otherwise fully cooperating. I chose to show you our most refined moments, what I failed to show you was some of the shots I actually got a bigger kick out of. I think you'll enjoy this. So without further ado here they are each complete with caption:

This next one is sassy Bella with a rather cute little pucker.

This one has a little story of it's own. Does anyone else have a child who is deathly afraid of the vacuum? Or who cannot stand the sound of a noisy lawn mower? Well, I do. The grounds keeping crew was busy at work manicuring the beautiful campus grounds and heaven forbid they use a leaf blower with 50 feet of us, hence the displeased face here!
The final photo is just too funny. We were standing a few feet from a large water fountain display and the water would sometimes splash outward, she is simply catching water droplets on her tongue, that's my girl!!

Allrighty, I had this strong urge to get this out of my system, sometimes the perfectionist in me needs to be liberated. I am going to really challenge myself to see the real side of life more often, it feels good! I tell ya, "poised and proper" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Two more things before I go. The first being, I was tagged by Kelli to name 6 weird or quirky things about me. So here goes my list:

1. I cannot sleep with out a blanket covering my "exposed" ear. If I sleep on my back then I wrap the blanket around my head to cover both ears, the other night hubs and I joked that I need sleepytime ear muffs--I can see I have already told you too much!!! next...

2. I have a 13" TV in my bathroom, and when I blow dry my hair in the mornings, I must have the closed captioning on as to not miss a thing on either one of the following; GMA, Regis & Kelli, The View, etc. It is my best source of current events since I don't watch much other TV. Except Grey's which is on in 20 min (hurry-hurry!)

3. When I use a public restroom (like my daughter I cannot stand loud noises) I plug my ears when I flush, darn noisy institutional toilets!!

4. I annoyingly know and sing every word to every song on every station, be it country, rock , christian, pop whatever, you name it I probably know it. Poor hubs!

5. Besides that I love sharing all about my life and that of my family, I am actually a very private person, hard to believe I know, but true.

6. Finally, I have this uncontrollable urge to immediately look up a word that I may read or hear and do not know the meaning. I have me a special little link directly to Meriam Webster online. I am a loyal subscriber to MW's word of the day, love to broaden my vocab!!

This brings me to my last and final point tonight, I was reading Nicole's post from the 24th, I panicked when I did not know the meaning of nonplussed, now I had a good idea given the story she was telling, but I would not have been able to recite a definition. So I did what I always do, and here you go:

Nonplus: to cause to be at a loss as to what to say, think, or do.

With that said, be on the look out for future definitions. When I come across a 'new to me' word, I plan to share it with you. That way we can learn together!

Whew, that was a mouthful!!

Peaceful Bliss

Still nice and quiet in my world. Just a whole lot of show and tell going on around here. Been busy digging into some kit goodness the past few days. I have some ideas for a mini album rolling around in my head, thinking that will be my next task. Until then, here are two LO's with my beautiful Jan. Poppy Ink Kit. Loved the gold ric-rac, and really enjoying putting a twist on my own handwriting. I have always avoided my handwriting, and therefore journaling. Ironically, I actually believe journaling to be a super vital part of preserving memories. So with that said, I am challenging myself to go beyond my comfort zone and get my write on. 'Dream with Faith,' was inspired by Jill and her ultra awesome handwriting, I loved the curly-Q style on her recent LO's. Just had to give it a try myself, needless to say I have decided to try it more often.

We took a much needed day out yesterday. My Mom, Bella and I strolled around the UOP campus, it was such a beautiful day to be out and about and the sky was the most vibrant shade of blue. The campus tower never looked so amazing against the sky.

You know me, I never can resist fun photos of little miss Bella, and of course I have to share them with you. It has been so cold lately and yesterday was such fun. Besides, it had been breaking my heart to hear a girl say, "Peas go owside Mama."

Show and Tell

I am feeling a little quiet today, found myself sitting back today just enjoying some of the little things around me. My Hubs was very sweet Friday night, he took over around here and let me get some LO's completed. More journaling here than I am used to, been trying to push myself to say a bit more in my art. Most of the items are from the January zingBOOM kit. As you will notice, I am hopelesly addicted to scallop edges, always putting a little here and there. Also added some stamping, and glitter for fun.

Bella Bag Debut

It's up, one precious little 'Bella Bag' in my etsy shop. It is just too stinkin' cute, I had to pry it out of Bella's hands....ok, not really, but I can tell you if you have a little girl, she is sure to love this sweet and colorful "just her size" little purse. Remember the technical issues I was having with my Singer, well I picked up my new Husqvarna yesterday afternoon and needless to say I am in Heaven, she truly runs like a top! So, I have plans to knock out a few more 'Bella Bags in the next two weeks, each one a little different from the one before. Also, wait until you see the most adorable little apron I have crafted, I hope to get it up tomorrow. I ran out of good lighting for photos today.

Back to working on completing two happy little LO's tonight. One with goodies from the October Poppy Ink kit, and the other from My new January zingBOOM kit. Lot's of paper pushing going on over here tonight, wish me luck!

Just for fun...

Woohoo, I finished a LO just for fun today....well actually it took me a good let's see.... 3 or so weeks. Ok, so the real story is this, this photo and many unnamed embellies had been rearranged, removed, left alone, shoved and mangled about somewhere in the vicinity of my kitchen island since two days before Christmas. For just about 3 weeks, I was in a total and complete creative mess over this particular photo, I just didn't think I could do it justice. Silly I know, but true. So here it is, a couple of tidbits from Poppy stuff, but mostly just some good old fashioned product right from the scrap stash. My initial thought was to make it real 'bling-bling' ya know, this is the toned down version, works for me. Just happy it's no longer in the unused corner of my island.

On a different subject, I have just enough skull fabric left to make two more handbags. By the way, thanks to all for the wonderful comments, you girlies really know how to make a girls day! Argh, I have been having technical problems, what's new? I finally had it with my tempermental Singer, (on to plan B) I attempted to complete my many undone projects with an old machine that My Mom recently had serviced, also a Singer which belonged to my Grandmother. You know the heavy-duty, all parts made of steel kind? It's still a great machine nonetheless, and I was lovin' it until I noticed a couple of oil like black marks on the ties of an apron I was working on. The darn gripper feet which help to move the fabric through while stitching are deteriorating, hence the black mark. To make a long story longer, I have purchased a new machine; a Viking Husqvarna---she's a real beauty! Can't wait to get my little grubbies on it, so the good news is, it should be in by Wednesday, hopefully more handbags and even some Bella bags and darling aprons to boot for my etsy shop. I wanted to leave you with a little Peekie of the 'Bella Bag' I have been talking about. So check out my little model, this was all her. Nothing to do on my part, well except when I said come on lets go outside, grab your purse, and just like her Mom she always has one foot out the door, but not without Piggy of course!

Something's Different...Skulls, Etsy and A Little White Sharpie

I know this is a bit overdue, but for what it's worth, I'd like to introduce my new Banner! I had been wanting to get one up there forever but afraid to tackle html, I put it off. Well, it was not as hard as I thought it woud be. I think it spruces up my page a bit, and it really makes me happy. I am finally official!
I have also added a link to my etsy shop, so if you have a minute, stop on in to Just One Girl you can link to it here, but also from the sidebar now. That's another thing that's been neglected on my "To Do" List, getting my handbags on Etsy. In a previous post Funtastically Yummy Fabrics I had showcased some of the beautiful fabrics for the Fall bags, and promised to get them up soon, well I have finally done so. I make One of a Kind handbags and sell at my local craft shows and by word of mouth, and by way of walking advertisement, me. Each one completely different from the next. They come in many styles, from formal rich fabrics to hip and Trendy...like the one I have been carrying these days (pictured above), complete with a skull design fabric, rhinestone butterfly brooch, black lace and a "Rock On" pocket snippet from some old jeans. It's very fun, and I'm convinced it's a crowd fav. I have already sold quite a few from my complete Fall collection, there are still a few left in the shop. I plan to get working on some more very soon. As a matter of fact I am introducing a new bag, called the "Bella Bag" after my daughter. (I will be adding a few to my shop in the next several weeks) She just loves to carry around my handbags and since they usually drag behind her, I thought why not make one her size? She absolutely loves it, she fills it with all her little people, squeezes in her favorite stuffed piggy and totes it around the house wherever she goes. She insisted on taking it to the grocery store yesterday, that's my girl....my girly girl!!

Some of you were wondering where to get a white Sharpie. Well, back when I was in search of one myself, I looked around locally and had no luck. I ended up finding them online at Discount Office Supplies where they have great customer service and quick shipping!

{HAppY NEw YeaR}

It has once again been a wonderful year gone by, 2006 was good to me. I have so much to be thankful for and so very much to look forward to in 2007!

Kp and I went to a fabulous New Year's party and this year it was cheers to the 80's! I opted for a more sleek 80's look, with a low side braided do topped off with classic 80's headband, large hoop earrings with rhinestone bling, and chunky bangle bracelets--very stylish! I have been to a few 80's shin digs in my time, and this time there was no neon attire, ratty 'big' hair or the infamous frosty pink listick or electric blue eye shadow in the cards for me. I simply adore Forever 21 for such fun finds and fell in love with this cute little strapless number. Hubby went a bit more authentic and found a vintage AC/DC T and tore up 501's. I just have to tell you, while out thrifting for the goods I stumbled upon an old school Powell Peralta t-shirt. Hubby and I fought over it at first, until we discovered it was a sz small, and of course fit me just right. Hard to believe, but it's true, I always did have a soft spot for the good old bones brigade. I just love finding vintage goodness!

Many wishes for a fantastic and properous 2007 filled with all the Hope, Joy and Peace this new year can hold. Abundant blessings to you in 2007!

First of all, I would like to say that I hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas. I know, I am 5 days late, and I'd like to say that I had every intention to send my wishes on or before Christmas Day, however I came down with an awful cold, turned Flu. So, needless to say I have been feeling under the weather and not so chipper at the keyboard. Believe it or not, but I am still battling this nasty monster and I sure can't wait to kick it. What a fabulous way to end the year, argh!

On another note, I have so much to discuss (like my new banner, my etsy shop, etc.) I think I will save it for next time, so fair warning peeps next post shall be quite lengthy and all over the board.

For today I want to leave you with a couple of LO's from the Poppy Ink, Nearly Noel kit. I really loved this kit, and I extra super loved that the colors were not traditional Christmassy colors of Red's and Green's. Love those too, but the feeling that this was a bit risky for me made it sooooo very fun! Of course I nabbed all the add on's too--how could I resist all the yummy bling?

It's true, Bella & I have been in our PJ's for the last week straight, except for Christmas that is. (See cutie Patootie in PJ's above) We finally got all gussied up today all to find out that we still weren't feeling quite 100% yet, oh well, there's always tomorrow....but this photo sure makes it all better!

This was my first RAK and really, thanks to all for making it loads of fun. I look forward to having one every couple of months or so, it helps to organize my trinkets, but especially because sharing goodness is always a good thing, what do ya say?

In Honor of Generosity... It's RAK Time!!!

In honor of the generosity of my favorite girlies, the Poppy's, I am giving away some fun trinkets from my stash of goodness! I should warn you in advance that I have never done this before so I truly hope I have put together a super packet of goodies for you! A few days ago I thanked Happy Girl Stacey, she was giving away some fun journaling goodies and I am thrilled to say I won! Well then a few days later my friend Kimber-Leigh was feeling in the giving spirit also and was having a little RAK party at her homefront New Every Morning. As I left a comment for her I thought there was no chance I could possibly win two RAK'S in a row, and I did!!!! Thanks ladies for the contagious, wonderful Spirit of Giving you have inspired here.

Ok, I took this picture a few days ago and after I had disassembled my display, I decided that if I add a few more things I could have enough for two RAK's-so back into my stash I went. Some items are not pictured, but trust me you will not be disappointed, among the goodies are some of my favorites... lace remnants, white sharpie, alphabet rub-on's, red velvet flower's, and fun journaling bits from various notepads. I almost want to sign up myself--teehee! Ok, so here's how to participate...

Last night we hosted a Christmas Party for our Small Group. We did the whole White Elephant gift exchange, it was pretty fun actually. (Luckily, no one brought any Depend's, like they did at Mom & Dad's gift exch.) Kp and I were able to steal some great gifts, and I am proud to say that the gifts we brought were each stolen and retired quickly! Ok, so the question is what, if any is the best or worst white elephant gift you have received/been stuck with? If you have never done White Elephant, just leave me some kind of happy comment and you will be entered to win a fab pack of goodness! Two RAK's=Two separate winners! Advent of Ornament update, featuring day #10:

I used to have a funny little piggy collection, not sure how it started or why, but I have since stopped collecting. I still have a few I'll find here and there in my stuff. Anyhow, I just couldn't resist this darling flying piggy ornie, just a fun part of my Christmas decor. You have heard people say, "When Pigs Fly" well here you go folks......don't forget, you saw it here!

Also, I am so excited to be the winner of Happy Girl Stacey's Blog RAK! Stacey rounded up some fun looking journaling goodies and I participated and to my surprise t'was my lucky day, Yipee! Thanks a million Stacey!! She has inspired me and I am in the mood for one myself. Stay tuned for an upcoming RAK here, hopefully I will have it up by Friday!

Deck the Halls with ChRisTmAs jOy

For some reason the spirit of Christmas really hit me today. Today my step was filled with a Merry-bubbly sort of dance! For starters, I decided to get my "full body shot" today...... of our Christmas Tree of course! I am also showcasing two other small areas of Christmas joy which fill our home this season. My ornament for day #6 in the advent of ornament's with the Poppy Ink girlies is of all things, an owl. He has been with us a couple of years now and coincidently fits right in with the owl obsession which took over Poppy Ink about a month or so ago. There is no significant meaning behind him (poor little guy), he was just another unique addition to my growing glass ornament collection. (Did I mention I have become my Mother?) Speaking of my Mother, she took this cool photo of me, and I thought it portrayed my holiday spirit exactly! She is a good Mom, the best Mom a girl could ever have, more loving and thoughtful than you can imagine. Ok, here I go.....since I am all juiced up on holiday joy(I warned you) and in light of sentimantal holiday spirit lets play this game just for a moment. "You know you have a wondeful Mother when....." You are all of 30 years old and your Mother still says the following to you. Don't park next to vans, don't go out after dark by yourself-anywhere-ever. Don't drink Diet Pepsi for breakfast! It's pretty cold outside, better grab your coat....she sure keep me on my toes, but you know what? I don't mind one bit, matter of fact, I really do love that about her, and if she didn't do it something would be wrong. Ok, one last thing about Mom (and Dad too), I have to credit them for the fabulous NOEL sign atop my rustic hutch and cupboard (the one in the mirror). I know it's backwards, but cool nonetheless. Unbeknownst to me they had spotted it at Costco about 2 weeks ago. Mom and I were out last week and stopped at a cute little coffee shop we frequent. It was part of their holiday window decor and I gushed over how great it was. Sure enough, Mom and Dad came by the very next day with an early Christmas present, I absolutely LOVE my new "NOEL", not to mention that I had the most perfect spot for it! Thanks Mom & Dad, you never cease to love every bit of me with everything you have. And it's not just in the things you buy me, those are material things (nice-yes), but they are just things. Things sometimes get lost in the shuffle, things we sometimes outgrow, things are just that "things" and you can't take them with you when you go. What's more special to me than anything is your love and support for me, it has never ever wavered. I am a lucky girl to have such wonderful parents, thank you again (she said in a teary-eyed, choked up, sentimental sort of way...) I love you!

As I was uploading these pics to blogger, I am sitting here thinking about what to journal. I had to laugh at myself, while we did visit Historical Old Town Columbia on Saturday, I have chosen to post only photos which do not portray the wonderful town whatsoever! I am just so stinkin biased when it comes to my sweet little Bella Moon, and she made for some great photo's that day. I guess it's a good thing blogger only lets me post 5 at a time, other we could easily be here all day! I have squeezed in a family shot taken by my wonderful Mother, thanks Tootsie! The town was celebrating it's annual Miner's Christmas. The participating towns people were clothed in period attire, even roasting chestnuts over a campfire right in the middle of town. The horse drawn stagecoach made several rounds through town all day, it was an authentic portrayl of life in the mining days where you can even pan for gold in the designated mining area. The fascinating architecture of the glorious old buildings was a great attraction, as I have a soft spot for vintage style anything, even fabulous old buildings.

"Our First Christmas" Ornament

The first ornament is pretty special, and it really does speak for itself. It serves to happily commemorate our first Christmas together (2 years ago). Hubby and I thought it symbolized us to a T! And since we were on the subject of cute cuddly snowman, thought I'd share two ornie's today. I didn't get a chance to post one for day two in our advent of ornaments at Poppy Ink and that of course brings me to my next point, I will try very hard to post every 2-3 days for the advent (just in case you are interested in my next surprise of an ornament). I hope the weekend was happy all the way around. It is important for us to make the most of family time together weekend by weekend! I am completely overjoyed with each new expedition.... oh for the memories. Sometimes historical, mostly local spots and hidden sanctuary's. I have always felt it a great chance to broaden my horizons and the perfect way to spend much necessary together time with my very best! That being said, be sure to tune in for tomorrow's post for photos from our visit to Downtown Columbia, CA for their Miner's Christmas festivities.

Hot Chocolate Anyone?

I have joined my fellow Poppy Pals in the Advent of Ornaments, here is #1. Wouldn't you agree that it is the most beautiful cup of Hot Chocolate you've ever seen? It was one of my first glass ornaments when I began to decorate my own home. Growing up, we would pack our Christmas Tree full of almost 200 ornaments. Just about all were delicate glass beauties, they were My Mother's favorite. Of course I would enjoy it all Holiday long, and it was always more beautiful each year. (I am not even going to mention that part about how we had several Christmas trees of all sizes in just about every room of the house). Oh how I used to dread the packing away part after Christmas, it seemed like it would take forever to wrap each individual ornament. Funny how life comes full circle, after hubby and I decorated the tree this year I said to myself, "I think I have become my mother!" I didn't even ask what he thought, some things are better left unsaid! My best memory so far this year, he and Bella sat next to the tree and unwrapped each ornament while I hung them. It was so stinkin cute each time he had just about unwrapped the ornament, she stood over him eagerly waiting to see it and faithfully followed each time with the most precious ooooh's and ahhhs! It was priceless! I do look forward to seeing her very own Christmas Tree someday....until then I am sure she will be a handy little helper the same way I used to. She is truly a girl after my own heart!

Little Bear Creek Tree Farm

We spent last Saturday at the Little Bear Creek Tree Farm in the quaint mountain town of Alta, CA. Although hubby and I recently invested in a fabulous, pre-lit, 9ft artificial beauty, we were happy to accompany my brother and his family to their annual tree cutting ceremony. It was an altogether great time! Little Bear Creek Tree Farm has restored several 1950's era Willys Jeeps that transport you through the forest to an area where you can choose and cut down your own Christmas tree. After selecting the "perfect" tree, you head back down the hill, where you can have your tree netted to transport home. We enjoyed ourselves visiting, while sipping hot cider and of course took a moment to browse around the cozy gift shop. The uber inviting and crackling campfire was a popular spot that afternoon, there was much to see and do. I can't wait to return next year and make it an annual trip each year!

Ahh, the hustle and bustle that accompanies me this time every year....it's great isn't it? KP and I are hosting the feast this year, and we have 20 people, including ourselves coming over! Did I mention that Thanksgiving is my all time favorite holiday, and how much I love that house-full feeling, family, fellowship, fun and fabulously tasty food. It all comes together just right when you look around and pause to remember all that you have you be thankful for, you silently look to God and thank him for the abundant blessings he has so graciously provided throughout the year. During this time of year I am reminded of just fortunate I am, for everything I have. My family, my health, my home--the things most important to me. God is my rock, my solid foundation for life. He is a good God, loving and forgiving. Thank you Lord for being the gracious, loving awesome God you are, I thank you for guiding my life and walking with me each day.

All hail Princess Bella....she is an absolute doll!!! She really took to Halloween, she had such fun and plenty of ohhh's and ahhh's! I know I am biased, but oh she was too adorable! Well, we succeeded in a funfilled first Halloween. Thank's so much baby girl for making Mommy's 30th one to remember.

Halloween will come and go every year, and contumes will change each time, but you will always be my precious little Princess. Love n' kisses to you!

Oh, woopsie....almost forgot, today is my 30th Birthday! I always knew once I had children and a family of my own that October 31st would be reserved for Halloween activities and trick-or-treating......that's ok though! Needless to say, Kevin and I are very excited to take Princess Bella out to celebrate her first official Halloween. Our church will be holding a Halloween Carnival, should be lots of smiles & candy!

So for my Birthday, we are heading to Yosemite this weekend to celebrate, I've never been --totally thrilled!!!! In the meantime, have a safe and Happy Halloween!!! Be sure to check out the post below, it is also from today..........

We have been to the pumkin patch about 3 times already, had camera troubles the first time. You know what that means though? Time for a new camera, Yay! Bella had such fun running around in the hay. Although she wasn't too sure about the corn maze, she made it down about 20 feet, then decided maybe not. She is such fun at 15 months, she forever keeps us smiling and laughing!

Once upon a time during an afternoon shopping trip to my local Walmart. Really, I was there for a purpose, (typically Target is my store of choice), but somehow that day I was drawn to Walmart. In deseparate search of a replacement blade for my Fiskar Rotary Cutter (refer to previous blog post). Of course I found myself crusing the Craft/Fabric area for new and exciting embellies. There they were, staring at me....calling out to me. Ok, so I am a little crazy, but I just couldn't resisit these super adorable buttons and as always I must share my latest fab find. oh, did I mention they come in several colors and styles. "Ahh, the possibilities", she thought. Until my next fab find.......

Funtastically Yummy Fabrics

Well here they are.... announcing the newest fabrics for my fall handbag line. Ok, so they are somewhat Springy, but I figured we could all use a little sunshine this winter, right? I will be posting photos of the handbags shortly, so you'll have to stay tuned. To my Poppy Ink buddies who like myself, can't resist the message boards. If you liked the owl handbag from the PI message board post Crying in My Beer you're sure to love these one of a kinds! They are handmade (by me, Just a Girl) with love and the really cool thing is that no two are alike. Here's the scoop, I have an upcoming show in mid November and am working around the clock to get as many completed as I can without going insane. For the time being my house is serving major double duty, home sweet home/sewing studio. A special thanks to my mother for her help and support and to my dear hubby and sweet baby girl as they never know what I have in store around here. Lotsa love to you all! Treasure Hunting

Is it just me or is there something about Garage Sales, Flea Markets and Second Hand Stores that makes your heart skip a beat? I just love (almost) anything second hand, and never fail to find another hidden treasure to squeeze into my home. I don't make it out too often, but when I do, I just can't wait to share all about my fabulous finds. It was the Friday before last, while out with the two best Garage Sale buddies a girl could have (My Mom & Bella) we stopped by a local spot called Sue's Country Barn. They open a couple of times a year, and sell the most fabulous goodies right out of an old rustic but very chic barn. Needless to say I snagged some pretty yummy stuff! As you can see, even Bella had fun browsing. We couldn't ignore the most festive fall set up just outside the entrance. Faithfully as to never miss a photo op, we of course took full advantage of the beautiful scenery, pumpkins and all!

A Trip Back in Time

Seven years later, and it hadn't changed a bit. I never realized just how strange I would feel pulling back into town. I immediately thought about all the great times I had back in the day. I was feeling a cross between happy and sad, almost melancholy. I can't begin to explain my college days... but I knew that while I was there for this short visit, there were a few places I had to see again for sure. After lunch at La Familia, (love those huge meal size tostadas) we headed through town. Our first stop was by Sigma Kappa. I just had to snap a photo of my good old sorrority house. We took a drive by the old Beta house just for kicks. The yellow house on third, and the porch was just as I remembered it... adorned with beer bottles and party paraphenelia galore. We couldn't forget Riley's or 5 & I either. It was off to Lulu's next, my favorite trendy little boutique on Main in beautiful downtown Chico. Of course I couldn't leave without a souvenier, an infamous Lulu's T-shirt, and a few other must haves. Our last stop was the campus. As beautiful as ever and of course just as I had remembered it. All I could think was "Welcome to Mommy's college Bella." Boy was my mind racing to capture a moment in time, any random moment from my good old college days. Ok, so Chico State was a wonderful time in my life, something I'll have forever. It was good to be back that day, the familar sound of the town and the campus made it seem like just yesterday. The many memories I made at Chico are no doubt, beyond measure. Thanks CSUC!!

Right in My Own Backyard

Happy Monday! (Ok, so it's now Tuesday, but I was having problems uploading photos to my blog yesterday, so I created a new post altogether). Either way, it was of course another beautiful weekend and you know what that means.... the perfect opportunity to take photos. I was thinking yesterday, just how unbelievable it is the amount of photos I already have and my daughter is barely a year old. I couldn't begin to imagine the number I will have by the time she is 10. I admit it, I am one of those people who takes photos of everything, and of course this is my first child. I am never without my trusty camera, you just never know when you might stumble upon the perfect photo op. "She with the most photos in the end WINS!!!!"

Ok, so have you ever had something so wonderful right in your own backyard and didn't even know it? Last Sunday after church, we were on our way home and like every Sunday we passed a sign for Caswell State Park. Now I have lived in Manteca for about 22 years, and the last time I went out to Caswell was well over 10 years ago. After all this time, I had this crazy itch to check it out once again.

My hubby grew up in the nearby town of Escalon, and I was kind of surprised that he had never been there (since he's been everywhere else). Well, he loves to fish, so of course I knew what he was thinking....."did somebody say fishing???" As planned, after church on Sunday we headed off to Caswell. I still can't get over the fact that this fabulous park is only a 10 minute drive from our house. It is tucked away way out at the end of a country road in the small (neighboring) town of Ripon, right on the Stanislaus River. There was in fact plenty to do, with the sandy beaches, swimming, tubing, picknicking, fishing and miles of hiking trails. Caswell's 258 acres is considered to be one of California's finest examples of a Mature Oak Riparian Forest.

Somewhere in the enjoyment of my afternoon, I took a moment to appreciate the most perfect and peaceful nature of Caswell. It's funny how we sometimes overlook what is often right in front of us. How I had forgotten the beauty of Caswell State Park....and there it was all along right in my own backyard. Needless to say we had a great time. As usual, I took many photos to remember the day. I couldn't think of a better way to spend the afternoon than with Family, yummies (Bella's first chocolate chip cookie experience) and KP even caught a few fish! For an ordinary Sunday afternoon, Caswell proved to be the icing on the cake and I can't wait to return.....

Vintage Stride Rite...Circa 1978

While visiting my Mom sometime last week, she handed to me an old Stride Rite shoe box. She had been organizing some cabinets in her house and found these old shoes of mine. I opened the box with a sentimental sort of feeling inside. They were adorable, I thought. I immediately had to try them on my daughter, they were a perfect fit! "You could probably sell those on e-bay" she said. After looking the shoes over pretty closely, I sort of chuckled and said "What would my item description say...Vintage Stride Rite, Right Shoe Missing Buckle, Circa 1978." We both smiled and proceeded to document the moment. I just couldn't wait to scrap it. The top photo is a close-up of the infamous shoes. I don't care what e-bay says they are worth...I will forever keep them as they are more valuable to me than dollars and cents.

Just recently I set out to accomplish two things...first one was to create/publish a blog, second thing was to set up an account on My Space. I have officially done both and have to say it feels good! I had no idea what a late little bloomer I had become. EVERYONE has a MY Space page, and I am not exaggerating, I mean everyone. So, if you don't I suggest you get one very soon...although be careful, I can already see that it can be very addicting. Where to begin?

Ok, here goes. After much thought, I decided that it was about time I jump on the ever popular Blogging Bandwagon... so here I am, it's almost 10pm on an ordinary Friday night, posting my very first blog. I am so excited, I can hardly stand it. I have so much to say, and have no idea where to start. Lets see...where to begin.....I'll start with a little about myself. Like most of us, I wear many hats. I am a Christian, a perfectionist, a mother, daughter, sister and wife, an artist, and professionally, a Realtor Associate for RE/MAX www.jillguimont.com I LOVE photography and I love the fabulous art of scrapbooking. I am a free spirit, a little obsessive, compulsive, a bit insecure and confident all at once. My goal for the next half of my life is to tackle the lengthy "To Do" list I have so diligently been creating for the last 29 years.

I have a beautiful daughter, whom just celebrated her 1st birthday. She is my precious Bella Moon, truly my pride and joy. I have the most awesome, loving and hardworking Husband, Kevin (KP). They both are my inspiration!

One full moon night, I was maybe 3 months pregnant. Out of the blue, and very humorously, KP looked up at the bright beautiful moon and uttered something silly about the moon. We laughed about it all the way home. Somehow the name stuck and ever since we have called our daughter "Bella Moon." To this day, we are occasionally a.k.a. "The Moon Family".....Jilly, KP & Bella Moon. I just love how sometimes even the smallest or silliest thing can create the most special memory. So in closing......as you can see, because of them; I will forever be a girl who is ecstatically "Over the Moon."
